David Philip Harris – Personal Biography

David Philip Harris is an employment law solicitor, managing partner and founder of DPH Legal. David has specialised in employment law throughout his career.

After being admitted as a solicitor David practised at Manches LLP, a leading commercial law firm, and he then moved to the employment team at Darbys Solicitors LLP.

In January 2011 David founded DPH Legal.

Legal Experience

David has acted for and against Formula 1 racing teams, football and rugby clubs and internationally acclaimed private schools and universities.

David has an extensive employer client base in a variety of industries as well as the charity and education sectors. These employer clients range from small owner-managed businesses to large commercial companies.

David regularly advises individuals and senior executives on the full range of employment law issues, particularly in relation to settlement agreements. Often these can be mutually agreed upon between both parties swiftly and easily.

However, more complex agreements involving directorships and shareholdings can require extensive negotiations and David has successfully gained highly favourable settlements for managers and directors.

David has represented individual and corporate clients in the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal as well as the High Court and County Court.

Notable Achievements

David has provided advice in relation to litigation which has gained the attention of the national press on more than one occasion and he frequently acts for Respondents, Defendants and Claimants in high-value disputes in the Employment Tribunals and the High Court.

Media Work

David has been interviewed as an expert on BBC Radio on numerous occasions in relation to newsworthy employment law developments. He has recently been interviewed in relation to the collapse of Carillion and on the impact of the teachers’ strikes as well as numerous other topics over a number of years, in particular, the impact of Covid on the employment market.
