The Ground Floor
Head to the northwest corner of our museum and discover ancient Egypt and Assyria, as well as some fascinating artefacts from Archaeology & World Cultures collections! At the Museum, our interactive play-learn area has lots of exciting activities for children.
Explore the vast history of Earth through fossils at the Geology gallery. See traces of animals that have evolved & disappeared over billions of years in this ever-changing world. The world of minerals, gemstones and crystals is fascinating with gems like the Bristol Diamond.
The Dinosaur Galleries allow you to meet some famous British paleontological discoveries, including the best-preserved dinosaur found in Britain- the Scelidosaurus.
Bristol is also the home of a Bristol dinosaur! There are wildlife galleries in museums where you can see rare and endangered animals from the UK and around the globe.
The first-floor balcony provides a view of the changes that Bristol has undergone over the centuries. Showing maps and prints, as well as a BoxKite, it is perfect for viewing the historic development of this city.
Second Floor Exhibitions
Visit the galleries to learn about Bellini, Cranach, Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley, Bomberg and Hepworth. There are also Beryl Cooks in the seven art galleries.
The gallery houses pieces from different bouts of European and British crafts that feature exquisite craftsmanship and design.
It’s possible to see exhibits by Bristol-born and bred artists in the Bristol School of Artists gallery, including a display of silver figures. There are also paintings on the walls which show images of this area from 200 years ago.
The Eastern Art Gallery displays a variety of artwork from Asian cultures. Among the items are ceramics, carvings, and glassware of high quality.

You can look into the many activities that are available, like the new Curiosity Zone which is explicitly designed for children under 7 years old. The museum provides colourful trails and hands-on explorations for people of all ages. There are many other days out to occupy you in the area, one such favourite for the family is the Zoo Gardens.
